Esther Slade's first collection of poetry Jouvert Morning is scheduled for Fall 2007 release by Author House. This collection of poetry centers around the theme of love. Ms. Slade's prose is simple and reminiscent of the South American poet Pablo Neruda. The poems in Jouvert Morning are deeply personal and spiritual, yet readers can find in them the universality of life.
The collection opens with 'Fallen Sister', a poem about a woman dying at the hands of her husband. Having been a survivor of an abusive relationship, Ms. Slade is committed to exposing the perils of domestic violence and encouraging women to think of themselves as survivors and not victims. The retail price will be $10.99 and will be available online and some retail bookstores.
